How many of us are transactional,when there is so much more! There will always be an element of the transactional, we are so weak and helpless! But the relationship with Him on its own is such a beautiful thing! So,many Christian things were once Jewish things! I believe He intended continuity!
You may want to know that William Tyndale wrote the first translation in the English language, before the KJV. He was martyred in 1536 for his passion that the English peoples be able to read the Bible in their own language.
Messiah is the Anointed One. I understand the block of One God, since my Jewish friends all mention the basis of their faith. Please know that it is a block for we Christians too to try to speak of the Three in One without losing one’s friend.

Amazing reading , and I had avoided Leviticus as too boring and full of priestly instructions. I had no idea the Hebrew people actually saw God’s face and did not die.

Naomi, you say the name of G-d in vain a lot. Jews say "HaShem" the Name to avoid this sin, but it is all OVER our culture. But you are a Jew and you know what to do about it--say a Bracha (blessing) so the Name is honored and the sin erased. A good one in English is "Blessed Be the Name of the Lord, now and forevermore." Doing this will be good for your soul--and very enlightening to our culture. You will change the world a little by this.
In these times of appalling zionist genocide from the Israeli government many who were raised Christian are forced to re- look at the Old Testament that tells us the Jews were the chosen people of God who commanded them to kill other tribes down to the last man, woman, baby, or
domesticated animal. My take on this scripture channelled through prophets is that this is a distorted message channeled through a deeply traumatized people that is used to give them comfort while they engage in retribution. Now we can watch videos of Rabbis repeating these messages of killing entire peoples down to the last man, woman, or baby today who also say that European and American Christians as well as Buddhists and Hindus don't have the right to live. This starts to seem similar to Jihadist Islamists. We also learn that the Jews of Israel have little Semitic DNA as they are from eastern european Asians who converted to Judaism centuries ago and are known as Khazarian Jews. It is becoming more difficult to not oppose what many Jews are promoting. I would ask Naomi to weigh in on this to clarify? Are most Jews afraid to at least stand up to oppose the zionist genocide?
Do we need the Jewish holy book to find God? Must we believe that the God of armies who orders massacres and holocausts, who orders Abraham to kill his only son is the only true God? Must we still believe in a tribal God? Will we ever be able to move forward from this nightmare that has tormented us for thousands of years?
Wonderful that you are seeing what God wants us to see, Himself. Only from the original writings and studying the word with the help of the Holy Spirit do we know these things. I am blessed to have a teacher who has studied from the original for 20 years. We have learned who God really is, and who we are as his offspring, created in his image and likeness. I'm excited for you. God is wonderful and amazing and always kind and loving. He doesn't kill steal or destroy, but we who have free wills do it to ourselves. He is Love as written in 1 Corinthians 13. He never changes.
The RSV, NAS, Geneva Bible, and every decent translation agree in this text, where Jesus Christ indicts the Pharisees: "You search the Scriptures, because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is these that bear witness of Me; 40 and you are unwilling to come to Me, that you may have life. 41 "I do not receive glory from men; 42 but I know you, that you do not have the love of God in yourselves. 43 "I have come in My Father's name, and you do not receive Me; if another shall come in his own name, you will receive him. 44 "How can you believe, when you receive glory from one another, and you do not seek the glory that is from the one and only God? 45 "Do not think that I will accuse you before the Father; the one who accuses you is Moses, in whom you have set your hope. 46 "For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me; for he wrote of Me. 47 "But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words?" In the KJV, the “it” is in italics, meaning it is not the original translation. One has to understand translation to know the it was He!
