So that's what the modern groups tend to do: they award themselves the designation of the elect of God, and consider everyone else -- other groups -- as cursed of God and deserving of annihilation. But who is behind all this? Fallen human nature, for one thing, but also the ongoing depredations of the powers of darkness, actively fomenting discord, so that it's not enough to be Islamic, you have to be Shia (or Sunni), otherwise you have internecine war. I want to make a distinction within Judeo-Christian Theology, then contrast it with Islamic Theology. In the Judeo-Christian doctrines, there are three: Jewish, Catholic, and Protestant. The focus here is primarily on the Protestant Bible, but it also includes the Torah and Tanakh. The Catholic Bible draws on the Apocrypha and has significant deviations from the other two doctrines. I am focused on the Jewish and Protestant doctrines. The Bible is explicitly an integrated message system that maintains a high degree of internal consistency and employs 220+ rhetorical devices to convey its messages. Thus, a literal instrument is only one of 220+ ways a message is communicated. ie Jesus Wept is a literal and requires no interpretation.
Whereas in Islamic doctrine, nearly the entire body of the prose (the Quran, Sharia, and Hadith) uses a literalist approach. There is no need to research the author's style and intent in conveying the message because what he meant was what he said, and what he said was what he meant. That said, the Islamic Doctrine is very concise in its meaning and intent. Islam has religious sects just as the Judeo-Christian practices have different sects.
Islamic religious practitioners practice what seems true to them about theology. The deviating sects in Islam move in the direction of being less violent. i.e., Jihad is a peaceful internal spiritual struggle, which is not supported by the Islamic doctrine. The deviating sects in Judeo-Christian practice tend to become more provocative. ie, bombing abortion clinics, blowing up mosques, etc, which is not supported by the Judeo-Christian doctrine.
Too many people are unstudied but highly opinionated. Other people know the truth about Islam but perpetrate untruths, yielding to the character of the doctrine out of fear. We need to know the truth, and that is incumbent upon each person to do their proper study, avoiding the classic faux pas of believing they possess the truth before any investigation. Condemnation without proper investigation is a significant problem that leads to placing high esteem in unsupported personal beliefs.

While most wars are driven by religion, money or power, Islam cannot claim its violence on religion. It is driven by a violent ideology. It has nothing to do with G-d. No god exists with violence as its main teaching-- except for Allah. The Muslim claim of religion is merely an excuse for perpetrating violence on those that do not practice their ideology. As soon as Western leaders realize this, they will engage the medieval Muslim beasts and work to stop the invasion (hopefully). In the meantime, it is up to us, private citizens, to stop the destruction of our society and protect our lives.
