Naomi, thank you for your considered, personal, courageous post. I’m only just reading it (and all of the 500+ comments!) now. I especially appreciate the human element in your recollections… the way that the authentic human consciousness / conscience overlap is a paradigm akin to a novelist’s distillation of the filter each of us employs, to pan for revelation, or flash insight, in our travels through time and space… which is so much more intriguing, than the synthetic AI - bot farm - Blade Runner - humanoid paradigm, the real thing is always better than the imitations. At least, I recollect the phrase, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness. Along those lines — I’m sorry for free-associating — I remember that U2 song, Even Better than the Real Thing. That always reminded me of pornography, fwiw, the difference being, what makes it “real” is not a clinical / observable phenomenon, it’s an interior kind of consciousness, we’re not robots. It’s the Platonic world order, if you like. It’s the same notion that I was pondering when I saw “Barbie” when it came out in theatres, 2.5 years ago, thereabouts, the very telling detail that the pre-human characters are asexual, that her final transmigration into human form is going to a gynaecologist, that we have a similar preoccupation with girls who are “untouched,” and that’s the weird overlap with the Epstein story — that this is better than human, the search for a vessel, be it an empty vessel, if it must be, but to be human is simply too messy. Fraught with baggage. Sorry to free-associate! But I wonder if these networks borrow from a kind of abstracted detachment from real life. I mean. It’s not enough to say that these people are geeks and antisocial and unattractive. That’s too simplistic. Or to say that STEM is absurdly over-weighted toward men, from primary school, when you’re just starting with kids. You hear a lot that people want to be on the same side as history, but there’s another expression that is, be on the same side as life. And that’s a much more proactive mindset. A lot of these people… are not on the same side of life, insofar as their lives are a full-time suspension of disbelief. I think the orgiastic fundraising / networking / institutional lobbying that has become part of American education, is one reason why Epstein was able to embed himself in this milieu. I don’t think that he would have gotten so far with scientists / philosophers of tech / bros on the Continent, if only because their work and their social lives depend much less on networking and fundraising. It’s worth noting that Oxford is now the site of a planned massive investment project steered by Larry Ellison (I hope I’m citing the right person, and spelling his name correctly) as a kind of tech hub / startup / endowment fund / employment agency, which, properly speaking, should be popular… and yet seems to have struck many people here in the U.K. as ominous. Like, the butt of shudders and jokes. Having myself been a product of the US education system, its prestige branch, really, I can see both sides of the coin, to use the right metaphor. The only metaphor. It’s always been the question of patronage — and Epstein is hardly unique in having had a dual-track operation. Many glorious Renaissance & Tudor cathedrals, cities, stately homes, etc… were endowed by patrons with a political / ideological agenda. America isn’t used to thinking in this way, but, it’s the currency of power: imposing your view of the world on the real mess that confronts you, forcing it into a paradigm, mobilising people to play a role in a drama that you stage. I mean — the national socialist project was about a sort of total vision of society, it was aesthetic, oracular, and ultimately about world domination. But those ideas run the spectrum from fanciful to alarmingly literal minded. Basically, we impose ourselves on the world, we stamp our image on it, it’s hubris, we would do better to read Plato more diligently, he holds that the greatest art can only approximate life and that is what is sacred. You don’t need Christianity for that revelation. It predates monotheism.

It sounds like you are making excuses for President Trump. I mean isn't the problem with the whole system that our politicians are beholden to their Contributors? I get that it is an impossible situation. But let's say our president actually wants to do the right thing, as do, I imagine many of our elected officials. And why are we being understanding towards him and then pointing a finger at the rest of them.

He is Supporting the big farms with more subsidies while cutting support for small organic farmers. He is cutting regulations on chemicals that are banned in Europe. How is this going to make America Healthy Again?
While at the same time he is moving us toward the same goals of past administrations, toward total control. He is doing it primarily through technocracy, digital I.D's, Digital money. Donald Trump may have secretary Kennedy in HHS but he seems otherwise to be working fast and furious for the same people that have controlled past administrations. its business as usual in the white house just in less than the usual ways.
