Thank you for reading this to us. I got a little behind on your readings because so much craziness is going on in my life. Evil is just infecting everything these days. So we all need to stay in his word and I'm so grateful that you're interpreting the Hebrew and giving us the true meanings.

Thank you Naomi, excellent reading and commentary. The last part was a gem. It gives me much to reflect upon. There is hope because God is in control. It is hard for us human beings to realize this because we see the bad things happening in our world and our lives are so short in the big picture. We must keep faith in God and trust in God.

The notion of trusting in the good intent of God despite circumstances in this reading can be seen as a foreshadowing of Job's sufferings further on in the Bible. Further, is the significance of the echoed reiteration of the effects down the ages, generation upon generation, of evil resulting in a transformation that brings people closer to God, as in the story of Exodus which is, literally, reiterated annually by practicing Jews. I think this challenge, to be willing to see what appears evil as good, the reconciliation in theodicy, remains the central fulcrum of piety and belief. And what appears to be necessary, in other faiths as well as in Judeo-Christian versions, for example in Buddhism, is firstly the recognition of the suffering of loss, of disease, of death as the only human entry point into an equally important recognition that the only possible reconciliation rests in a totally new understanding of the status and meaning of life and death that may be found in a relationship with God.

Thanks Naomi! I listened a second time on my walk. This story has everything. Domestic violence, human trafficking, immigration, climate change, agricultural reform, a government of unelected bureaucrats spending vast amounts on questionable projects. The only thing I don’t recognize in our contemporary world is sound policy decisions by Pharoah! I just want to give him an honorable mention! Joseph was conscripted, answerable only to Pharoah. He took up the challenge with dedication. I like to say that RFK, Jr. is not so much running for President as conscripted for the job by We the People. He’s already our President, taking up the challenge with dedication.

I don’t think some of our ranking House members would have survived long in Pharaoh’s court. We the People just roll our eyes and trust they will disappear through the election cycle.

The demonrats leftst fascist nazis at Boobtube-Youtube/google , TitforTatTwatter, FascistBook, and along with many swamp govt agencies, politicians, cia, fbi, doj etc. are all in cahoots with the leftist agenda for power and control over the talking points of their progressive marxist anti-freedom campaign against anyone who disagrees with them, especially if they get popular.

ANYONE can see this just by their actions of banning people from social media like red communist chicomms destroy lives with their public 'credit scores'

First, Thank you so much for resuming with the Geneva Bible. And Second, I applaud you and Brian treating yourselves to Monterey and a "second honeymoon!" Wonderful. I'm so glad you two took a break.

I think Monterey, Mendocino and Martha's Vineyard are my favorite places to soak in the beautiful atmosphere by the ocean water.

And the Gulf of Mexico, being close by, beckons to me in the off-season coming up. Yay!

(I was pleasantly surprised that Martha's Vineyard is not some snobby place, but very user friendly, with affordable, cozy bed & breakfasts - and has a "sinful" donut shop that opens from 6pm to midnight with huge, incredible fancy donuts, and a long line of "just us folks" excited with anticipation. And it is the homeland of the Wampanoag Tribe, which hosts an incredible restaurant overlooking the water. I had a cheeseburger topped with lobster! Great independent movie house, and I saw Patty Griffin in concert. What's not to love?)

But I digress . . .

In the Douay-Rheims version of the Holy Bible, Genesis 50:19 reads "And he answered them: Fear not: can we resist the will of God?"

In the New American Bible, which is the one read at mass, it's also simply "But Joseph replied to them: Do not fear. Can I take the place of God?" Genesis 50:19

These are the two main Bible translations of the Catholic Church.
