Thank you Dr Naomi Wolf, i had started reading (listening) to the bible read and interpreted by a catholic preist (the king George bible) over a year ago; however I really feel these additional versions and interpretation allow for a more complete account and less interpretation and omission. Each additiinal version (e.g the Geneva and the Hebrew bible) helps to allow one to interpret for themselves with a more complete account.
If you or anyone knows of any scholars/students of history who read and interpret the Book of Enoch i would welcome referals!
Dr Wolfe- I do hope everything is all right with you and your family and that you are all happy and safe and well. I ask that you please continue to read the Geneva Bible because it was awesome! I learned a lot and I appreciated it and I like the sound of your voice as you're reading the Bible.
Your ending comments are profound truth with enlightened reasoning! I believe this how God works revelatory awareness in our human hearts. You are SUCH a blessing to put yourself on full display for the benefit of all who are listening! Thank you!
I agree with the comment that no one wants to talk about the evil, and prayer, especially on a secular show, and I applaud you for doing this.
I was enraged by that idiot comment about liberal arts people thinking science is magic and all the insults he vilely spit out.....as I think we liberal arts majors udnerstand the difference between science and its shortcomings better than these people who have turned science into a religion..with vaccines as their sacrament.
..Thank you for reading it though...shows us the depth of hatred that can exist in the human heart. It was quite shocking.
Dr. Wolf, I truly see that old time liberals like yourself (i.e. not progressives or woke) and us conservatives (i.e. not RINO's) are pretty much the same,
Thank you for reading this to us...please KEEP DOING IT. I no longer go to church after they all shut down for covid...so this is my Sunday morning substitute. Blessings to you.
Please continue with your readings. I listen while cooking, doing dishes, and in bed at night. I appreciate you reading and translating for us. Please do not stop.
Your characterization of the Geneva Bible and its translators as dissenters, exiles fleeing persecution, is spot on. They wanted to know the God of the Bible unmediated by human institutions and so were careful to render the Hebrew text word-for-word. The RSV was the mid-20th-century product of America's mainline Protestant establishment, denominations that had already begun to reject the authority and authenticity of the Bible. These denominations have since gone into a tailspin and are on track to extinction.
Princeton Prof. J. Gresham Machen's little book from 1923, Christianity and Liberalism, described the emergence of a new religion that wore the garments of Christianity and used its terminology but denied the reality of the supernatural. This is the mainline religion that produced the RSV. https://reformed.org/books/chr_and_lib/
I have always been fascinated by the word salad of humanity. We all bleed red. Having been Christened an Episcopalian, Baptized a Baptist, Confirmed a Catholic, with a Jewish Godmother, I often ponder what is Jew, a Christian, a Messianic Jew, yada, yada, yada. Is a Muslim, who was once a Jew, a Palestinian, before conversion under Saladin, who now accepts Jesus as being the Messiah, a Jew, a Christian, a Messianic Jew, or still a Muslim?
Looking at the comments, many of them have already written what’s in my mind. I am a Christian who believes in the inerrancy of the Bible. All of it. I have marveled at your openness and transparency over the last three years as you have pushed back and fought for reason and sanity amidst a time when it appears the world has lost its mind. Your honest humility has warmed my heart. I am enjoying reading along and listening to you read and it’s so illuminating to hear you explain the Hebrew as you read. So rich!
I don’t know how you manage doing it with your busy schedule but I’m in for as long as you keep going!
I too LOVED your talk at Hillsdale and have shared it with many. God bless you!
Naomi, Go see the movie “Nefarious”, in movie theaters this week and WE only for an enhanced understanding of the evil forces gripping our culture today. The movie is excellent and possibly your readers will see it as well Thank you and God Bless you!
How beautifully you read, Dr. Wolf! I love listening to the Hebrew as well!
For many years I attended a women's bible study at my church (Presbyterian) and considered the teacher, Jackie, my spiritual mentor. She always had a Hebrew bible with her to supplement her teaching! The class helped me develop a love for Israel and I have even been able to visit that country twice with her! She passed on last year but left a beautiful legacy of loving and serving the Lord.
You are blessing us with your bible reading, so thank you!
