Dear Naomi, this comes to you late--after Christmas--but with your very important words about the need to celebrate this Holy Day and all other days that are holy to each of us individually ringing in my heart and soul. I see that you are so right concerning the shutting down of our inclination toward expressing and celebrating the mystery of these High Holy Days, that so many different religious faiths hold sacred. The stories that we hold sacred have more and more been suppressed over the decades. I am very indebted to you for bringing this really sad and perhaps premeditated situation to light. I remember when Christmas was shortened to Xmas and how it felt like a liberation to me. At that time I was pulling away from Catholicism and even from Christianity as I tried on other forms of spirituality--but I didn't realize that to suppress any form of worship was actually to limit the freedom of expression of all of them. You are looking with a wider lens and I am grateful for your perspective. The ONE God who made us all gave us all these differing ways in which to experience our connection to the Divine because there needed to be many ways to God. It was not meant to be a reason for war but rather a further way to enrich the creativity of our race. I would love to see the heads of our different religions truly preaching the need for unity across barriers that have been erected. There is ONE God. How wonderful to realize that we can simply come together under ONE God to solve the challenging issues of our time. We don't have to wrangle with or war with each other but rather, we can get down to the 'brass tacks' (interesting phrase) of resolving the issues that will cause our extinction if not addressed. Yes, it does sound simplistic, but I do think that this ONE God that made us all--and by the way, made all the sentient beings in the universe--wants us to survive these very difficult times. This is our ace in the hole. Our creativity is valued and it springs directly from the freedom that we have to express our divine nature in many ways. I am so grateful for your encouragement to express this essential responsibility--and will seek out ways to express it before I lose it for good. I am seeing that the self-suppression I have learned so as 'not to make waves' in the COVID years extends much further than just the vaxx issue. Have I really disavowed any mention of the mystery of our divine nature--thus leaving this part of our humanity open and undefended to the probing of AI and trans-humanism research and manipulation? This is truly frightening and disturbing. I do see a rise in Christianity and am grateful for this, but let us respect all the different paths which lead home to our Source.
Since Christ's birth, there has been a war on Him and there will be until His Second Coming. In my case it was as a Christian student enjoying the joyous atmosphere that came with Diwali celebrated by both Hindu classmates and Hindu lecturers.
The members of the ACLU were clearly motivated by spite and a desire to hurt and punish the Christian community and dampen , stifle and ruin their celebrations.
