Dear Naomi,

Why not the 1599 Geneva Bible? Do you know the difference? Thank you so much for reading and also translating from the Hebrew. That is so helpful! Kris

dear dear Naomi,

thank you for reading this bible. it's reconnecting me with my Quaker roots as the quakers are no longer The Quakers in bougie SF your home they became a lifestyle magazine religion...and i've been lost. i've so much i wanna say but no TIME but thank you i needed we all need this as we re-asses our story and re-ignite our imaginations. i'm in the middle of an artist...not creative block... i'm struggling between being trite and being trite for a reason. i'm driving my James craaaaaazy. said being in my head was like the trash compactor scene in star wars.

(smile)

anyhow, i've been financially decimated for 11 years maybe 12 now... and i'm crawling into something else (perfect TIMING) and i wanna go back to the old days when we did things for each other when we were broke and i wanna offer you ART free art in exchange for me loving your talents skills and gifts.

spot art for your books cover art whatever i will see if i can help you. you don't even need to answer this just let me pop into your head if you have a need and reach out. or respond to this and i'll get the notification.

(i'm notoriously hard to reach now that i've returned to the 90s and suck at email and have no magic phone)

i used to say i was at John Michael Greer's open post for covid, but this project now has most of my time and i don't even answer my front door after getting ambushed a couple of times by strangers pushing into my apartment. so neighbors run up to me and i give 'em all the time they want/need. i leave hella early and leave hours of time...

like the olden days.

I read along with Naomi with my 1599 through Genesis. Genesis seems to be identical to the 1560.

I love being able to link to your Geneva Bible reading from substack.

Thank you again for reading and for the commentary. I find both valuable.

Puritans, Separatists, Brownists. The church in my home town, Marshfield, MA, was established in 1632 by the Pilgrims and used the Geneva Bible for decades. I have the Patriot's edition of the Geneva Bible from Tolle Lege Press.

John Adams, the second president of the United States, wrote: “Let not Geneva be forgotten or despised. Religious liberty owes it most respect.”

I have read the Original testament in Hebrew and the Greek NT. But after reading your review, I'm going to dive into the Geneva. Thank you!

I have yet to read the Geneva bible. I met my husband at a bible school. We did this instead of college. It prepared me for life in an incredible way. I will say that I grew up Catholic and yet from birth I have always felt the love of God and that He actually liked me. I understand the wrath of God and hatred of sin- because sin hurts us. But I have always seen/experienced the love of God. In Isaiah 49:15-16, God talks about how He cannot forget us as a mother cannot forget her nursing child. We are inscribed on the palms of His hand. This is covenant language. Believers are in covenant with God. It's a pretty crazy good and just so like God because He is the perfect... well, everything, but perfect judge, lover, etc. He is my favorite person, even more than my husband of 42 years whom I love a lot. God understands me on a level that no human can. Will be reading the Geneva Bible because of you

YHWH GOD, as a parent/Father/Creator--a teacher/explainer of how things work (laws) the physics-- which can not be changed. Not conjurer of rules and regulations--so called laws that are subject to modification or selective exemption as are the products of legislatures--without freedom there is no love--GOD is Love

Please don't stop your analysis of the various texts and how they differ! It's really the best part to me. I love your reading the commentary of the Geneva Bible, also. By the way, sometime let us know how your broken arm is doing. Thank you for all of the time you are devoting to the Geneva Bible and teaching us. I don't know how you do all that you do, so take time to relax, and have things to look forward to!

Please keep your reading of the Geneva Bible on your Substack. I can’t listen to it as you do it and I’ve tried to go back on twitter to find the reading in order and it is impossible for me to find. I’m not very Twitter literate.

Yes Naomi, please do.

Dr. Naomi, thank you so much for doing this important work. Your reading and explication of the Geneva Bible is riveting. We recently moved to a new town and lost our access to a wonderful Bible study and our talented teacher, so your illuminating study is a blessed gift. It's a bright light in an increasingly darkening world.
