It reminds me of something I thought about last year: The mistake the Nazis made was they didn't rope other countries into their ideology; make them a part of it, get them into the same program. They conquered other countries militarily, and brought them into their orbit, but that is not subtle at all. It raises the alarm of other countries that can put up a fight.
