In thinking more about this, the title here is a sad misnomer as it's not "Campus Chaos" we should be discussing - that's an unfortunate misdirection - but it's "Campus Actions Against Colonialism & Killing in Palestine" & our support or rejection of that as US taxpayers/voters. Wars continue with our support & when we all withdraw financial support & refuse to fight & die in the wars, then the wars will end.
The MSM & some in the altie press usually hide any raw critiques of US funding of Israel's colonialism/killing (since 1948 & over the decades of its existence) & mislabel critiques as "anti-semitism" when strong arguments are made against US tax dollars supporting a cruel, apartheid Is/Pal control system.
We should know that If we don't ALL rise up to support justice, equity, love & compassion for ALL, at ALL times, then we're each of us spiritually bankrupt & sick in our minds & souls. Clearly, the campus protests are calling for an immediate ceasefire in the ongoing killing campaign against Palestinians & asking for the divestiture of any CU funds related to Israel. There is no other way to stop the killing. :/
It's not unusual for university campuses to support social justice issues. Previously, campuses spoke up against racial segregation, students rode buses to the South for Civil Rights Marches, protested against the South African apartheid system & petitioned for cleaning up the toxic chemical environment, etc. And so speaking out for equality/civil rights in Israel/Palestine is the very same issue of equity/rights.
History shows us that all peoples dispossessed of their lands are first "conquered" by force & then rounded up into areas away from the newly predominant elites/class. They are also mocked/dismissed by the ruling govt for their cultural differences & are universally treated badly. Many times they are sent to be "re-educated" into the "new civilization" (taken forcefully & required to change their clothing/traditions) as young Natives experienced in Native "boarding schools" out west.
Native reservations, Medieval Jewish ghettos, German concentration camps, African apartheid colonies, US schools segregation/urban/real estate neighborhood red-lining/jobs segregation by sex/race, etc. It's all variations on the same control narratives & it all makes one's heart hurt to think of it.
Related to this, an article on two brilliant thinkers (& personal heroes of mine) on the resistance to US segregation (from 1972) & the history of Palestine resistance to colonialism/land control (from 1994):
"Intellectual Resistance and Identity in the Works of Edward Said and James Baldwin"
"In his groundbreaking 1994 book, Representations of the Intellectual, Edward Said [Professor from Columbia University btw] artfully establishes a compelling connection between the political paths of African Americans and his own resolute advocacy for Palestinian self-determination. Said reflects, “there can be little doubt that influential figures such as Baldwin and Malcolm X have significantly shaped my own understanding of the intellectual’s role. It is the ethos of resistance, rather than conformity, that resonates with me because… the essence of intellectual endeavor lies in challenging the prevailing system at times when advocacy for marginalized and disadvantaged communities is overwhelmingly impeded.”
"Said further explains how his involvement in Palestinian issues has profoundly deepened these convictions, offering a deeply personal insight into his ideological development."
"In his 1972 work, No Name in the Street, James Baldwin offers a poignant reflection of his time in Paris, serving partially as a memoir. He draws an evocative comparison between his self-imposed exile and the experiences of North African migrants in the city. Baldwin notes, “The Arabs were together in Paris, but the American blacks were alone… I will not say that I envied them, for I didn’t, and the directness of their hunger, or hungers, intimidated me; but I respected them, and as I began to discern what their history had made of them, I began to suspect, somewhat painfully, what my history had made of me”. His introspective analysis beautifully captures the intricate dynamics of identity, displacement, and community among diasporic groups."
"From 1966 to 1979, Baldwin’s writings on Palestine solidify an emerging understanding of the region’s colonial history as a critical aspect of Western imperialism. His perspective, described by Said as “Zionism from the standpoint of its victims” (Said, “Zionism”), frames Zionism as a symbol of the broader historical project of European and Western colonial rule. Baldwin’s insights provide a valuable lens through which the Israel–Palestine conflict can be viewed, enriching our comprehension of its deep-rooted complexities."
"Together, these works by Said and Baldwin not only delve into the struggles faced by marginalized communities but also explore the role of intellectuals in advocating for change and understanding across cultural and political divides."
FYI
"In 1963, Said joined Columbia University as a member of the English and Comparative Literature faculties, where he taught and worked until 2003. He lectured at more than 200 other universities in North America, Europe, and the Middle East."
And James Baldwin, the brilliant writer, was "an American writer and civil rights activist who garnered acclaim for his essays, novels, plays, and poems. His 1953 novel Go Tell It on the Mountain has been ranked among the best English-language novels. His 1955 essay collection Notes of a Native Son helped establish his reputation as a voice for human equality. Baldwin was a well-known public figure and orator, especially during the civil rights movement in the United States."
James Baldwin: “You think your pain and your heartbreak are unprecedented in the history of the world, but then you read. It was books that taught me that the things that tormented me most were the very things that connected me with all the people who were alive, who had ever been alive.”
—The Doom and Glory of Knowing Who You Are, Life Magazine, May 24, 1963.

Food for thought: As billionaires go, Soros is not that wealthy. If he were to face a class action lawsuit on behalf of everyone whose degree progress was negatively affected by this protest, that could hurt a man even as wealthy as he is.
I would be very interested in lawyer's thoughts on this idea. Has Soros properly insulated himself legal liability? One thing that shocks me is that there were not more class actions taken during Soros's last "party" in 2020 given the huge amounts of property damage done. However, given the size of tuition payments and potential lost earnings among these students as well as the emotional distress, I think Soros could get right and goodly screwed here. (Do you count it based on their first year's salary or the average salary over the course of their careers, or their last productive year's salary?)
These protests have easily caused economic damages worth Soros's total net worth many times over. What lawyer wouldn't want that multi-billion dollar settlement? Of course, we need to make sure the firm that files this is ideologically with us so they go after Soros's and his various "non-profits" ability to operate forever.
The Ukrainian Flag Waving:
Also, regarding the Ukraine flag, I am sorry to have to disagree with you on this one, but I don't think that is the same thing as what the protestors did when removing the US flag. Taking down a flag to put another up is an act of conquest. Displaying two flags together is a sign of friendship. Diplomatic history is filled with joint displays of flags.
There are other occasions on which the US has displayed other nation's flags. The German flag during German reunification. The Chinese flag for the former Chinese president's visit during 2006, Hu Jintao. The Argentine flag for Pope Francis's 2015 visit. And, while they aren't nations, the UN flag in 1945 and the NATO flag in 2019.
Flying two flags alongside each other in a display of alliance and friendship is so common there are rules governing how this is done.

Last week, The Washington Post exposed a scandal involving U.S. billionaires and officials collaborating with the Zionist occupation to pay NYC’s Mayor Adams to deploy the NYPD against students at the Gaza Solidarity Encampment and Hind’s Hall.
U.S. billionaires, along with Minouche Shafik and the Board of Trustees, are behind the NYPD’s assault against those resisting Columbia’s support for the Zionist genocide in Gaza - we will hold them accountable.
Fueled by our love for Palestine and our community, the Palestinian liberation movement will remain steadfast and victorious as a people’s movement against Zionism, fascist politicians, the militarized IOF-NYPD, and state-sponsored terrorism. Join us to demand accountability and protest the Zionist entity’s chokehold on Mayor Adams, the IOF-NYPD, & Columbia University.
What a terrifying scenario! I’m left wondering when you think this could occur - after a Trump landslide so that he becomes the bad guy imposing martial law? Or before the election so that the ‘Jo 90 million votes at 4am’ scenario plays out?

"As a professor, it has felt good to pick up trash with my students, and to learn about how to roll a keffiyeh or sing Pesach songs with them. For all four encampments I visited erased a lot of divisions: between young students and old teachers; between faculty and staff; between Jews, Muslims and Christians; between formal members of a university community and our neighbors; between students of different universities (and their peers who don’t go to college)."
"Like the the Poor People’s Campaign Martin Luther King was planning when he was killed in 1968 (which was supposed to be a shanty town encampment of white, Black and Chicano poor people on the National Mall) the Gaza solidarity encampments have been a taste of what might be possible when everyone freely gets what they need—and when people unite across divisions to share shabbat, salah, and a demand to end war."

Naomi - Re: fighting back against the chaos in general - there's no other place in your recent stacks to post this news so posting it here for everyone to see & use to help stop the increasing medical tyranny.
